I'm the biologist who made the first connection between vector-borne BD mycoinfection and Northern Cricket Frog disappearance in NY state.
Our own state DEC biologists, who still list gamefish and road salt as likely vectors for disappearance (meanwhile the last population in the state is in a lake teeming with Bass and Pickerel, along a road, while populatiosn several miles from any road, too shallow for gamefish, have disappeared) have been "resistant", to say the least.
What's so different about Glenmere Lake, the Northern Crciket Frog's last habitat in NY?
seasonal application of the fungicide/algicide "Copper sulfate", as algae control.
...seems, according to my work, that the copper sulfate is saving the Cricket Frogs.
Of course, the state and county have been 'looking the other way' as a huge dump has been illegally generated on the site.
If you'd like to help, PLEASE email the following and tell them how inane it is to allow an illegal dump onsite
a quick note stating how outrageous this is, (Esp. since our NYS DEC screwed up on this one, immensely)
would be doing the cause of these frogs a HUGE solid.

Hello,
I have read quite a bit lately about the dumping at Glenmere Lake and have to say that I am shocked that this is happening. It has already been decided that the cricket frog is in need of protection by it is inclusion on the endangered species list, how can you justify allowing dumping to take place in its remaining habitat? I agree that the responsible party should pay for the clean up and face criminal charges, but I think it is the city and state's responsibility to clean it up now and force them to repay it when the culprit is determined. I am not a biologist, but the majority of your voting contingency is made up of concerned citizens that want to see their delegates make the right decisions.
Thank You,
Wendell Zetterberg, Jr.
I encourage you all to do the same, fill their inboxes with letters of concern for the cricket frog!
